Yep Sue, you are correct, ta muchly - more reading pretty much said the same thing - in effect if you get the full colour in the inital strike - you run a a real danger of losing it in the kiln as overstrike so more testing and note taking - i will get it now i can do it proper  ;D

I think you may  have struck them too much at the beginning - my silver glass is generally brown with some iridescence when I put it in the kiln and the colours develop during annealing.  Try heat - cool - strike - kiln with each glass and record the results, then those that don't get enough colour repeat that during your next torching session until you get the perfect striking sequence for each glass.  :)

alas a lack of any further change - next batch will have to be annealed at a lower temp and see if that saves the colours and prevents a re-strike

I have put them back in for a few more hrs at 520c to see if they change anymore, but given the starting place maybe I need to reduce the initial annealing temp down a bit  ::)

well not exactly what i wanted - a few seem to have pulled a bit of blue out - so do i go hotter longer in the kiln for a last try or simply cut my losses -
