52 things week 38
« on: September 19, 2015, 12:45:50 PM »
I sort of managed 2 things this week, well a lot of sets of 2 things!  I made some powder and decal pendants, overlooking that transparent powder is, er, transparent  ::)  and therefore metal bails will be unsightly.  So then I had a go at making some glass bails which I have tac fused to the backs.  First two out of the kiln are ok I think, so will now sort the others I have.

Love the fact you have made your own glass bails, they look great.

I have made a set of these placemats and coasters for a customer

They gave me a heck of a time, even with a bubble squeeze. The good news is I have a set for myself, even if they have a few pimples.
I had bother with my glass order too but won't bore you, then I broke a coaster when wrapping them, fortunately I had more.
But they are totally scrummy and worth the bother in the end

I consistently got tiny bubbles with it, but in an attractive way, where colours changed.  Need to master varying my schedule more for things like this.  I love the glass though.

I ove bubbles, they give a bit of character but because these are opaque all you saw was bumps

This is one of mine - I made quite a large order for a gallery, but sold a couple to the US and the customer is complaining she doesn't like the bubbles (despite them being in the photo), despite loving them wants them  replaced and to keep the others for free (ha!) making a right old fuss with Etsy and Paypal (pah!) but we will see......  but would a longer bubble squeeze have reduced these bubbles across the white?  They aren't particularly proud of the surface, more pimples than bubbles, nothing to upset a cup sitting on them.   I did a slow fuse (they are pre-set on my Skutt) thinking this would be better (having tried normal and medium first but not much difference), perhaps I needed a longer bubble squeeze?  I actually like them, they have a bit of character, but who needs stress from customers?
