I need your knowledge please :D
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:57:22 PM »
I have this ring which is made of pewter and completely gorgeous. But the inside of it is not solid, it's kind of hollow, so there ends up being a gap between the ring and my finger. This gap is not easy to dry, and soap gets caught underneath it and stuff and it makes my finger go all icky and dry and itchy.

Sooooo.... is there a way to fill the gap with something so it ends up being metal or some other material sitting against my finger, and so it doesn't catch moisture and soap under there? Ta!

you could solder along the inside?
Or use that filler thing you get for holes in walls?

Apologies if they're crazy ideas :p

Solder sounds like a good idea... I might have to get someone to do that though as I don't own a soldering iron.

I probably could, but I think if it was filled with a metal it would look nicer as it would match more, and I'm not sure how well the clay would stay in it. I'll have a think on that one, it could work :)

will pewter solder?  I thought it was a really soft metal -  I was going to suggest polymer clay

Would it not be a plan to remove the ring when washing hands? ;D ;)
My son uses a plastic for modelling that you mix the two parts and it goes hard - called green stuff.. Obviously green wouldn't work but maybe you can find a two part resin/ plastic for jewellery?
