Kumihimo cord
« on: March 15, 2013, 09:25:08 PM »
I love doing my Kumihimo, but have a problem. My original disc came with rat tail but didn't come with any end caps. I ordered some with a ID of 6mm and they were to small for my cord. So I ordered some 1mm cord and this when braided is too small for the 6mm caps. So I ordered some larger caps with a ID of 9mm thinking that my original cord might fit. No it is too small. I am now assuming that my original cord must be 1.5mm. Can anyone help in pointing me in the correct direction? Will 2mm cord be ok for the ID9mm bead caps?
What cord and caps work well together?

Help!

Try contacting Caron at Noseks (I know, it's been pointed out to me too what the name sounds like!)  http://www.noseksjustgems.com/  She is incredibly helpful, very lovely, and does an enormous amount of crafting, so actually uses what she sells.  What she doesn't know about kumihimo probably isn't worth knowing.

I make glass caps on the end of a mandrel, found the 5 mms are great for my kumi made with 2mm rattail (8 strand)

I've had a go at making the glass ones, but one cracked when it was being worn, so I'm back to metal  :-\
